I've been using Eudora for many years and have update the OS numerous times and have
never had that problem.

I suspect that what's happening is that you're not opening the same Eudora folder as
you had before. When Eudora is opened -- except when it is opened by clicking on a
settings file -- it looks for a folder (or an alias to a folder) named 'Eudora Folder'
in the 'Documents' folder on the startup volume. If it finds it, it uses that folder
as the Eudora Folder and the 'Eudora Settings' file therein, if there is one, as the
settings file. If it doesn't find them, it creates them, blissfully unaware of any
Eudora folder, of any name, anywhere on your computer!

One way of dealing with this problem is:

Find the Eudora Settings file in the folder that contains the Mail Folder, Nicknames
File, Signature Folder, etc. that you want to use. Then open that settings file the
way you open any document. That should open the Eudora application and your Mail,
SIgnatures, Addresses, etc., should appear in the menus.

If that works, then save an alias of that settings file on the desktop (and anywhere
else that may be convenient) and use it to start up Eudora. (If you don't have a good
settings file in that folder, put one in!)

That way, even if you have multiple startup volumes, you will always be using the same
Eudora folder.

BTW, a Eudora settings file can have any name but its creator must be 'CSOm' and its
type, 'PREF' for Eudora to treat it as a settings file. But if it is not called
'Eudora Settings' or is not in a folder called 'Eudora Folder' in the active system
folder, it will only be used if you open the settings file itself, not just the
application.
