there a way to use the Apple hard drive set up or a way to make the drive so
that it is supported??? It is a brand new Western Digital 18gb scsi . Also, would
it be better to partition this hard drive since I want to use it as my main
boot drive? Any thoughts would be appreciated.>>

I have a pair of these drives in a 7500. Apple Drive Setup can be hacked to
recognize them. You might try this link for more info on the hack:

<http://www.euronet.nl/users/ernstoud/drvsetup.html>

Having little experience with ResEdit it took a couple of attempts before I
got it right.

After opening the fSCR registry in Apple Drive Setup with ResEdit, I used the
"QUANTUM,*" (resource 299) as the model for my newly created "WDIGTL,*" name
which is listed as resource 128.

Of course always use a COPY of Drive Setup when attempting the hack. This
will keeping you original file intact in case the hack fails. --glen (digest mode)
