I have a PowerMac 7300/180 running good ol' Mac OS 7.5.5; The only things I know about Appletalk are what I've figured out myself, but it's simple enough that I can do file sharing easy. (Hey, it's Macintosh, simple as pie) Except how on earth do you set up zones? Pretty soon we're planning on getting a wireless network in our house, connecting about seven or eight comps. (Three Macs included) How would I set up zones like "Eric's Room," or "Steve's Study," on a simple old fashioned appletalk connection?
You would need an AppleTalk router to seed Zones. But you really don't need it for 8 computers. AppleTalk Internet Router does it. It's old software from Apple and AFAIK doesn't run under OT. Hardware routers such as Kinetics FastPath, Cayman Gatorbox and some models from Cisco do it. Also UAR from the Univ of Melbourne will.
