Question:
I see no physical problems installing the DVD ROM drive where the existing CD ROM drive and connect it to the ATA 66 card but the audio plug that plugged into the CD ROM drive doesn't seem to fit into the DVD ROM drive. Will this prevent me from using the DVD ROM drive in my 7300? If this audio plug isn't connected does that mean there will be no sound or will the OS take care of the audio end?
The bigger question is whether a removable media drive will work with your ata card. Because of the way ata cards fool the system into seeing an attached hd disk as SCSI, many will not work with a removable media drive (CD, DVD, zip etc).
As to the audio, if the drive works with your ata card, the audio for DVDs comes through the ata cable so you will be able to hear it , no problem.
