A friend of mine recently gave me his old DVD ROM drive he pulled from his 350 Mhz G4 when he upgraded to a Superdrive. I pulled out my original 12X SCSI CD drive out of my 7300 with the hopes of installing the his old drive in mine. I have an ATA 66 PCI card already installed that has a 40 GB drive connected to it.
Question:
I see no physical problems installing the DVD ROM drive where the existing CD ROM drive and connect it to the ATA 66 card but the audio plug that plugged into the CD ROM drive doesn't seem to fit into the DVD ROM drive. Will this prevent me from using the DVD ROM drive in my 7300? If this audio plug isn't connected does that mean there will be no sound or will the OS take care of the audio end?
I'm presently using 9.2.2 with this machine. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Joe
