Yep the 8600 is an 8500 in a case that is usable!

I must have missed part of a thread.  What modem system are you talking about
that won't work in a 7500? (same as 7600, but with slower CPU)  If it is the
larger case for needed space, the 8600 wins hands down, but if it is a
Motherboard problem, the 8600 and 75/7600 MBs are pretty similar. They only
really differ in the extra video out of the 85/8600 vs the lack there of in
the 7500/7600 and the Power Supply connector in the 8600 vs the other 3.
