I have a 9500 that has 256MB RAM, an XLR8 ZIF carrier card w/a G3/300 ZIF, a
Sonnet ATA66 card with a 40GB drive and a 24X CD-ROM attached to it. The
drive has been partitioned this way: 1st 30GB is Jag, last 10GB is OS 9.2.2.
When I am in OS 9.2.2, even though I can use the Startup Disk control panel
it still reboots into OS 9.2.2. I can't seem to get into Jag. The only way
I can do this is by using Xpostfacto to boot into it. My real problem is
when I'm in Jag and I shut down for a period of time (+ 30 minutes), the
computer seems to forget that I was in Jag and boots into 9 instead when I
power it up again. Anyone know what's going on? Thanks in advance.

The way XPF works is that it tweaks the NVRAM so that OS X can be booted. You can not and should not use 'Startup Disk' in OS 9 to select the OS X boot partition, you have to use XPF. As for the shut-down restart issue, I'm not sure what the cause could be. If you clock resets between uses, then I would replace the battery. With XPF working correctly, the computer will boot back into OS X on every cold start.
