  Well thanks to Derf for suggesting checking the drive via swapping... The
drive does work! But alas the 8600 still does not see it on boot into 9.1..
I went ahead and disconnected the Jaz and Zip for the time being.. The
system is up and running! Just sans the CD, which is only annoying once you
don't have one! Any ideas?

Is it an Apple ROMed drive. Is the termination enabled

If it is not an Apple drive you will need a 3rd party CD driver for
the system to see it.

If it is an Apple drive and the termination is not enabled the system
will not see it, and the rest of the drives connected to the chain.
