Greetings; Ijust recently acquired 3 Macs at a school dist. surplus
sale, an iMac 233, a G3 All-in-one and a beige G3 MT with an AppleVision
850. All complete for $100.00 Each. My Wife thinks I am nuts because we
allready own 4 Macs and an HP. So I need to thin the heard a little.
I am thinking of replacing the 8500 with the G3 MT.
8500, powerlogix G3 350, 896 MB Ram, on board Vram Maxed, Seagate
st15150n 4Gig, IBM zjcs2 36gig, Formac 16 meg video card, USB card, Lacie
external scsi 4-4-16 cdrw, GV USB 56K,17in multisync. Stock CD & Floppy
Beige G3 300Mhz MT server, 128 MB Ram (I have another 256 MB coming from
OWC), 2 megs Vram, Quantum scsi 4 Gig, ATTO Express PCI Pcs, Apple PCI
Ethernet card,I also added a Firewire/USB2 card and it came with AppleVision
850, Stock CD & Floppy, no zip, card in the comm slot only has mic &
headphone ports, no modem or AV. Both boxes have OS 9.1. I would like to
move to 10.2
    Questions;
1) Should I even be thinking about replacing my old freind??
2) With OS 10.2 in mind, what should I salvage from the 8500, or the
All-In-One? Keeping in mind I will want to sell the 8500 and AIO.
3) With ethernet on the mobo do I need the ethernet card?
4) I currently use the AV features on the 8500 to link with our home
theater. Can I move that card from the 8500 or should Ilook for an other
card for the G3 or should Ilearn to live with out because 10.2 does not
support RCA jacks?
5) Will the formac video card be supported under 10.2?
I would be gratefull for anyother thoughts or considerations.

Part 2 (Sorry)
I love the AppleVision monitor but it has one problem. I can't move the
desktop to the top of the screen. No matter what I do a black band about 1
to 2 inches wide stays at the top of the screen. I have tried it with the G3
and the 8500, same result. We can still use it and have more useable screen
than with the 17in multisync. I get kind of a wide screen effect.
Thank You for any help; Steve
