My 8500 has the startup chime, but goes no further. I've checked the HDs and the MB as well as the CPU. None seem to be the cause. Any Ideas?

Start by resetting the logic board. Open your box up and unplug it. Also, disconnect the power connector from the power supply. Next to the onboard video in ribbon cable (near the back and the pci slots) is a small black button on a silver box. This will reset your logic board if you press and hold it for about 30 seconds. If you still get no display, try replacing the clock battery (if it is dead, you wont get video). It is a 1/2 AA battery, available at radio shack. If, even after all this, you get no video, replace the CPU daughtercard with a known good card. Still no video, you probably have a bad logic board that needs replacing. Good luck!
