I just received a copy of OS X that I am trying to install on my 8600.
When I put the disk in and double click the install icon, it says "OS X will
not work on this computer"....
So, I downloaded and ran Xpostfacto and selected the install CD as the
start up disk but there was a small message that said something like "this
disk is only for installing OS X".
After I selected the installation drive and restarted, it would not
reboot. What do I need to do to make this work? My specs are...
8600/300 with a NewerTech G3/300 card OS 9.1 on 4 Gig Apple HD
Empty 4 Gig Barracuda (destination drive) 320 Mb of RAM
Has this drive been formatted with OS 9 drivers and have OS 9.1 on it? If not format and install. Then try installing OS X.
