Presumably it's an IDE drive if it's from a Windows machine. The 8500 needs a SCSI drive, so no, It won't work unless you have a SCSI 50-pin drive. Check ebay for one.

Hello! I have a powerpc 8500 with no hard drive! I also have
a 4 gb hard drive out of an ibm aptiva. Would this hard
