After downloading hundreds of the latest Windows worrm, each with it's own 100+ k payload, I went looking for something I recalled seeing a few months ago.

And I found it!

Mail Beacon $15 shareware.

<http://www.bainsware.com/mb/>

Versions for OS 8-9 and OS X.

And it works, too. Very simple setup, it used my Eudora settings when I first ran it.

If need be, all the info can be entered manually, and there's not a lot that you do need to enter. It not's an onerous task.

It lets me look at my mail on the server and delete mail from the server without downloading it.

No annoying hoops to jump through do delete mail from the server. Just select the messages to delete and push a button or two. And it asks if you're sure about deleting.

30 use trial period. I'm not sure if that's 30 actual uses, I.E., actually looking at the server, or running the program 30 times.

In any event, there'll be a payment enroute the first of October. I'd pay for it today, but I can't afford it right now.

I really recommend this for coping with the current worm deluge. It works, it's cheap and it works under OS 8 and OS 9.

This has been an uncompensated endorsement. I'm not getting paid nor am I getting free software.
