There is also a pice of software from NTI called DragonBurn for MacOS 9 or X. I downloaded the trial version and tested it with my external Yamaha 4260 (4x2x6) CD-RW. While it works where the native support for the drive is missing, it lacks features such as support for ISO and DMG files. I have emailed them regarding support for the two files, and they said they will be adding ISO support to the program. On 20/9/03 7:09 pm, "PCI PowerMacs" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:

Can someone recommend a good burning application for OS X? I have
Toast 3.5.7 running in OS 9.1, but I can't seem to get it to work in OS
X.
Thanks
Kevin
Neither the old Toast 3.X, 4.x or the early Toast Titanium will run under
OSX. Toast 5.21 will, and is very good. It's just been upgraded to Toast
Titanium 6.

The main reason I mentioned this software is that it is only $50, compared to the $80-100 for Toast.
Also, Accelerate Your Mac had an article regarding a patch for native CD burning for X. From looking at it, it seems to make X think that the drive is another model. As an example, I selected the Yamaha 4416 (4x4x16) since it was the closest model to it in the list. I tried that and now my slow burner is fully supported by X and I don't need to buy Toast or DragonBurn for now.
If anyone is interested in a copy of the patch, email me privately.
