Hi Brian. I don't know what's wrong with your 5400 but there is switch on the rear next to where the AC cord plugs in. That's gotta be easier than pulling the plug. Also, check your PRAM battery. Does the machine forget the correct date if you leave it unplugged overnight? If so, you need a new battery. Alternately, just leave it up and running and forget about sleeping the machine. John
