Sounds like something my monitor does occasionally. Barring that, it could
be your HD's thermal calibration sequence, but the timing doesn't seem
right. I've never actually heard an HD do that so I can't say what it
should sound like.

I'd suggest opening up the case (if it's not the monitor) to track down
the source of the noise. Power supplies sometimes make odd noises, so
don't rule anything out.
