I believe there were questions about this card in the last few days 
(prompted by a 50% off sale at CompUSA, iirc).

There is a report on using the SIIG card in an 8500 in today's 
Accelerate Your Macintosh:

In short, it says that unless you're running OS X on your 8500, the 
card doesn't work well enough to want one.
