Bus speed in either case would be 50MHz (determined by the processor card).

I would concur that the 300MHz would be faster. My 7500 with a 300MHz PowerLogix w/1Mb cache definitely seems faster than an 8500 with 400MHz Sonnet w/ 512K cache. I have done any other comparisons than simply using it and mentally comparing performance.
