I think you might mean the AppleVision 17" -- the screen dimension seems
right, at 16.1". You have to plug the little ADB thing in where you
usually plug your keyboard in, otherwise the monitor won't get the right
signal, & you'll be stuck at 640 x 480, if you can even get it to light
up. The 1705, 1710, & 1710AV all use the ADB connection to control the
monitor. You stick your keyboard cable in the monitor, on the bottom side.

I'm typing at at 1710 right now -- great picture (it's a Trinitron), but
weird electronics. It looks great at 1024 x 768 & above, but this 1 (I
found it abandoned in an alley) gets all fluttery when I set it at 832 x
624 or below, or else (640 x 480) the picture is scrunched vertically,
occupying only a small portion of the screen size. Propably why it was
abandoned... Usually when monitors get flakey, they poop out on the higher
resolutions...go figure....
