Where does one find L2 cache simm/dimm for the 7300, 7500 and 7600s larger

Thanks...

Craig,

I bought a few 1mb L2 cache modules a couple of years ago for use in 7500 and 8500 PCI Macs. I ran benchmark programs to see what kind of advantage they gave, and it really wasn't that much. I don't have the figures readily available, but as I recall it was less than a 10% speed increase in processor tests compared with a 256K cache. There may be programs that benefited more from larger L2 cache, such as Virtual PC, but just from what I saw, they are not worth investing much time and money to find. I don't know of any current sources for these modules.
You can get more bang-for-your-buck by getting a G3 processor upgrade which will include a large L2 cache.
