Ok, I got a stock sawtooth from the school district I work for. It had a 27GB HD in it so I added a 30GB onto the same chain as the slave drive. Then I added some RAM of course (3 128's and 1 256 to 640MB some are PC100 others are PC133) and booted off the OS 10.2 CD. Then I opened disk utility and saw the RAID tab. So I clicked on it and followed directions. All I had to do was grab each disk and drag it over to the RAID window. Then I partitioned it as one drive and called it "hard drive" (very creative! haha). thats it, after that i ran the install and everything went smoothly.
I did have a problem after I installed classic to run some ROM flashes and updates then i couldn't boot. So I had to install OS X on another HD and then choose my old array as the start up disk, since then absolutely no problems. In fact the Mac is very speedy and quite enjoyable.
Let me know if you need more details. I will post more screen shots. Thanks,
