I would like to upgrade the video in my 9600. I currently have a Sonnet G4/450 card installed, 608 megs of RAM, and the original ixMicro Twin Turbo video card. The general research that I have done leads me to the Radeon 7000 card. What I would like to know is: is this the card of choice of this list? What is the difference between the 32 and 64 meg cards.From what I have seen the 64 doesn't have the S video out, is thissomething to consider or a "who cares" thing? What about compatibility issues? I want to upgrade from 8.6 to 9.1 (or 9.2.x) and/or OS 10.x I currently have an install for 10.1, but thinking about Jaguar.

If you intend to run OS X you probably don't have much choice for PCI graphics. I have a 32MB Radeon 7000 Mac Edition and 64MB Voodoo5 5500 in my 9600/g4/450. The Radeon is slightly faster in 2D but lags in 3D compared to the Voodoo5, and without anti-aliasing doesn't render nearly as nice in games. Unfortunately no OS X support for 3dfx cards.
Did they release a 64MB Radeon Mac version? Otherwise you will need to flash a PC version. Last time I looked someone on eBay was selling flashed 64MB Radeons. I'd like to try one out.
