Hello All,

I have the opportunity to pick up a 1997-vintage
Applevision 850/16 20" monitor on the cheap
from an auction house. The catch? On an
auction description, they listed the item as a
"DIM Monitor." Thinking that "DIM" was a technical
acronym I wasn't familiar with, I mailed them for
Better and Further Particulars and got:

> The 'dim display' is actually related to a fault in the monitor
>causing the display to reflect very dark images.

Um, Is this a sign this monitor on its way out?

It should be said that this auction house will warranty the monitor
for 30 days against it, say, dying completely. But they won't take it
back if I decide that this particular defect is something I can't
live with.

If I go through with this, this purchase has to last me for a
while, 'cause I'm right on my uppers. I would be grateful for any
information or insights that anyone might have.

Best,

James Fraser
