I reverted the system all the way back to 8.6 which I _know_ will see the AV stuff properly and it doesn't see it. I guess I'm buying another one from Refurbmadness if I want AV on my 6500.
Thanks to all those people who submitted things to help me - I appreciate it! Even if the hardware turned out to be dead. (Yes, I've re-seated it several times.)
The system does however see the USB/Firewire 6-port combo card properly - ALI chipset from an E-Bay seller. I'll probably see if I can't find a good USB or Firewire input. That might be better by far than the native AV hardware. Any suggestions on that would be appreciated.
