I could never get a Sonnet 300/1M working in a 9500 because of the cache. that cache-like module is the ROM stick.

Hi all,

I've just added some RAM and new G3 processor to an old Power Mac 9500. When
I removed the motherboard in order to add the new components, I noticed a
detachable module very similar to a cache RAM module residing besides the 12
RAM slots of the 9500, right near the last slot: what is it?

If I remember well, the 9500's second level cache is soldered on board, so
it shouldn't be a cache RAM module...

By the way, when I added a G3 processor to my PM 7500, I had to remove the
7500's 1MB level 2 cache because it was causing some problems. May the
un-removable 9500's 512kB level 2 cache lead to problems too?

Thanks,
