You might also try resetting the CUDA (I know, an 8500 case and trying to get at
the switch!!!!) The 8500's were the worst Macs for needing the CUDA reset for
some reason. The switch is the very tiny button located right next to the CPU
daughtercard. Someone may have the link to a site that explains how to do the
reset, as I can't find the URL at the moment
