Does anyone know if I can drop a ram dimm from a G3 Beige 266 into a 7500?
To amplify a bit on what the other posters have written. It should not be possible to even put the G3 Synchronous DRAM (SDRAM) into the socket for the 7500's Fast Page Mode (FPM) DRAM because one of the notches at the bottom fo the socket is slightly offset.
However, the notches aren't always cut precisely on the DIMMs and sometimes you can wedge SDRAM into an x500/x600 machine. When that happens you get what I have in my closet. A 9600 MB with a small burn spot through the board, a melted DIMM socket and malfunctioning circuity in the custom ICs which cannot be replaced without sacrificing a working board. (And no, I don't mean that if you try this with a 7500 board it will transform into a broken 9600 board.)
