Hello all, PLEASE help me. I've spent over 9 hours trying to get to the bottom of this, not sure what to do now. Here's my system:
PowerMac 9500 with 288 MEG RAM.(OWC 128x2, and 4 8meg) and stock 604 processor, running OS 9.2.1 SCSI Zip, SCSI SyQuest (both external) 2 internal SCSI HD's, two video cards, both ATI running at 8 meg and 2 meg video ram. Each video card is connected to a 17" monitor. PROBLEM: For several weeks nothing wrong. THEN, this morning, it stopped booting with an error saying either "bus error" or "illegal operation". I tried testing each and every DIMM (took FOREVER)with the same results. Thought it might be the patch that allows my 9500 to run 9.2.1 so I booted from the CD with no problem (raised an eyebrow) then installed 9.0 on one of my SyQuest carts. Booted fine at first. . .but after second boot. . .SAME ERROR MESSAGES!!! Is my motherboard done?! Do I dump everything and buy new!? (biting nails, tapping foot, sweating like some sort of farm animal. . .losing $$$!!) If anyone can help me actually solve this soon. . .I'd be willing to give them $20! Thanks!
