It will run 9, but slowly. Depending on what you want to do with it would
determine if you need 9.  I'd recommend 8.1 or possibly 8.6 for that CPU.
There are periodic listings on the LEM Swap List and eBay for 8.0/8.1,
8.5/8.6 and 9.0/9.1. (Make sure you are getting an OEM Full Install OS disk
and not a model specific version.)

If you get 8.0, 8.5 or 9.0, there are free downloads from Apple to upgrade
to the next level. (8.0 to 8.1, 8.5 to 8.6 and 9.0 to 9.1)

7.5.5 (7.5 revision 2) is the latest free download. Anything later must be
purchased.
