I was looking around on OWC's website and in their clearance pages they were selling a 300mhz "Mach5" processor card for around 20$. I have a 200MP card in the computer, but because most applications do not use the extra dual processor I figure that it would be faster to buy the 300mhz processor and install it. Apparently the 300mhz "Mach5" processor is a special high-speed variant on the previous processors and was the last processor relased before the G3s and was nearly as fast. My questions are:
Would this processor be compatible in my computer? They only list the 8600/250 and the 9600/250 as compatible models.
Does anyone out there know of any benchmark or real-world tests on the internet or anywhere else that would show the difference between the 200MP and the 300?
on a related note, does anyone know of a website that lists all of the MP-savvy software that exists for the mac? If I was to find enough of it, I may as well keep the current processor. But hey, it's only 20$......
Anyway, any suggestions/comments/info would be greatly appreciated
Jesse
