I got the "Windsurfer" in a "deal" with some 9500 stuff. It is the mobo only, without the ROM SIMM. Notice on the 9500 and 9600 mobos where there are places for what appears to be reset switches along the front edge? Those switches are provided on the "Windsurfer". There is also a special connector which probably was connected to some type of chip emulator, or some type of diagnostic board. The "Windsurfer" has a conventional delay line between certain components; the 9500 has a very long trace "printed" serpentine-style instead, between those same componets. An inch of trace equals about a nanosecond of delay, if I remember correctly (which I may not). I did attempt to boot from the "Windsurfer" using a 9500 and its ROM-SIMM, and it wouldn't boot. Perhaps there are the same issues with "Windsurfer" and the 9500 ROM-SIMM as with the "Shiner" (AKA, ANS 500 and 700) and the 9500 ROM-SIMM. -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
