I can copy & paste from Word 5.1a into Eudora 6 just fine. But if I try this with Word 9.0.2 (Office 2001), the text is invisible. Why is this?

Well everyone goes on and on about ho insecure Microsoft products are, so Microsoft's decided to do something about it...the information you pasted is secure, right ? ;-P

Seriously, I suspect that it's the format of the pasted material. Make sure Eudora is allowing rich or styled text in the messages...that might be it.

How do you know the text is there but invisible as opposed to not being
there at all? Well, one test would rule on this: if you select all, what
appears? If something, then try changing style/colour to black. If nothing
then, well ... I dunno, maybe call a Rabbi or a Priest or a Mystic ....
Also what about dragging and dropping the text, anything happen? What about
an intermediate transfer... say to scrapbook or another word processor, even
SimpleText (there's a version with colour menu) first and then to Eudora to
get a clue on what gives?

unless the text is the same colour as the background ?

OK, good points. I have the background set to black and use brightly-colored text. When I lighten the background, there is the pasted-in bit. I'd have thought Word 9 text would be altered to the Eudora settings, but obviously not. That is stupid... Word 5.1a doesn't have this problem.

So it looks like the newer version of Word is playing word games indeed.
