Hi listers,
Thanks for the many pieces of advice. To summarise...

* Stay with XPostFacto
  - check SCSI terminations - currently most likely option
  - consider switch to IDE - big cost for card + drives, may be worth it
    for bigger storage capacity
  - consider whether I have some dodgy RAM installed
  - pay the 10USD to use the XPF advice forum
  - XPF upgrade in devt for 10.3 Panther

* Switch to Sonnet OSX Installer at 30USD
  - onboard SCSI ok
  - especially ok with other Sonnet PCI adapters
  - very little other problems mentioned
  - no mention of Panther support yet

I think I'll stick with XPF for a while yet, and I'll focus on checking my
SCSI cable. It's a four drop cable which worked fine with two drives, but
seems to show some niggly problems now that I added an extra drive on this
cable off of the Formac SCSI card.

I'll be happy if I can get 10.1 or 10.2 working.

Thanks again, great list!
