Hi all, there are always differing view points and I did want to comment on Andrew's tag line
A: Because it reverses the logical flow of conversation. Q: Why is top posting frowned upon?
Andrew what you are saying is very correct & I would normaly agree with you. However this group & many others have a whole bunch of "Useful Information" & taglines at the bottom of each posting.
So when you post at the bottom, the reader has to go all the way to the bottom and then scroll back up and find the response.
I work in the Civil Engineerig field and protocol there seems to be posting replies & new comments at the top of the page & if someone wants to see what went before " The historical data" they just scroll down.
Guess it's just different strokes for different folk. ;-)
If we follow the post at the bottom, maybe we should take a page from the old teletype days. There they put in three # signs to indicate begin & end of message.

I always thought that email was a conversation stack, with the most recent information on top, and the preceding information just below it. It's how I naturally stack documents - most recent on top, etc. Other methods seem counter-intuitive to me, but I have spent enough time on mailing lists and such that I generally try to post on the bottom. I notice that OS X's Mail.app, among others, likes to top-post, and sometimes I forget to go to the bottom of the message before I start yammering away. Ah, well. I suppose it's a matter of "When in Rome...", as it seems the general preference, for good or ill, is to bottom-post.
