The option to "restart after power failure" can cause this, as also can the option to "boot up at a specified time/date" Both these options can be found in the Energy Saver control panel. On some 7100 models the power swith serves the same purpose as the restart after power failure option with it's power switch position (vertical/horizontal)

Hi Listers,

I know this has been covered many times before, but I didn't own a 9600 then.
My 9600 restarts of it's own accord when I shut down from the menu or power switch on the keyboard. And thwe one on the front of the machine.
Reinstalling 9.1 helped for awhile. The next time it happened I pulled the battery and reset the CUDA. This helped until I installed some software on a firewire drive. When I tried to eject the disk an error panel appeared saying some parts of the program were still in use. I attempted a shut down and the chime came on immediately.
