The supra is usable on the 6214CD. However, I think it would behove you in the long run to get a 7200 or better and actually chuck the 28.8. Even for basic email, that is ungodly slow. Expecially when used external 56K modems usually go on this list for $20-25...But then again, that is just my two cents.
