Hi folks,

I'm new to the list and have been lurking for a few
weeks now. I've been running a 9500 w/Formac G3 400
card, 176 mmegs of RAM and system 8.5.1 for a couple
of years now with no problems whatsoever.

I also just came into posession of a 9600/200 with an
applevision 1710 monitor, that is 18 months newer than
the 9500. I am trying to decide what to do with these
two systems. The 9600 is running system 8.0 with only
32 megs of RAM.

I would like to get system 10.3 and the fastest G4
card that will be stable running on one of them if
it's possible.

At very minimum I would at least like to get one them
up to the highest version of system 9 that they can
run. I tried to use the 9.2 system CD that came with
my copy of 10.1, (I'm running 10.1.5 on an imac 333)
but it won't install on the 9500. I forget what the
reason was, as it was a while ago that I tried. I
couldn't even get the the 9500 to boot from the 9.2
CD.

I'm thinking of just getting the all the best parts
into the 9600 for starters. That being the G3 card,
and RAM from the 9500, plus an 18 gig scsi drive I
added to the 9500. Or should I get the 9600 system
updated to the latest greatest version of 9 before the
hardware transplants?

Any thoughts on where I should start?

I'm on digest mode, so I may not be super prompt in
replying.

Thanks,

Steve Zerby
