I have a PowerTower Pro (six-slot PCI) with a Sonnet 800 MHz G4 processor and an ATI Radeon 7000 digital Video card. I am running 9.2.2 with OS9 Helper, everything works great, and I am very happy with the system.
Recently, I added a USB PCI card to get audio in and out digitally. I didn't try for USB 2.0, which I thought would be a stretch, so I just got a regular "OrangeLink+" 1394/USB PCI combo card. The Firewire ports work fine with my Firewire drives and the USB ports work with my digital camera, so the basic functions of the card are working. The particular USB sound device that a I am trying to use is a Griffin PowerWave USB sound interface. With an analog sound input, the PowerWave is supposed to do the A-D conversion and then send the digital signal to the computer via the USB port. I do have this part of the system working, and the audio is considerably cleaner (no low-level noise) than when using the mic jack on the computer. Now, the only remaining problem is that I can get "sound out" from computer only via the Sound Out jack on the computer, but NOT via USB and the PowerWave. The USB option doesn't show up under the Output tab in the Sound Control Panel. I believe I have all of the latest USB and Sound extensions for OS 9. So, the question is, is it possible to get "USB Sound Out" to work on a PTP running OS 9.2.2? Has anyone on the list successfully gotten USB sound out of a PCI PowerMac?
