start your mac with shift held down. this 
bypasses extensions. see if you get into the 
Finder.

I mentioned my experience only because some 
people say that you cannot
get a virus on a Mac. That is not true. However, 
when you are having
problems, I would suggest exploring other 
alternatives before one
assumes their system is infected.

The only symptom we had of the virus was 
unexplained disk and network
activity that periodically seemed to freeze the 
infected systems for a
couple of minutes.
