You have a special reason to be using OS 8.1? Or for not using at least 8.6?

Hi again,

Sorry to be such a pain in the butt, I've got a new
 problem with my new 9600.

I have a local ISP that I use on my 9500 with system
> 8.5.1 and my iMac with 10.1.5. No problems whatsoever.

My guess is that this case is the same for many of us or has been in the past.We buy a machine or a drive that has a good OS on it but no install disk.

The originator of this thread like many of us isperhaps concerned about budget. I hope he gets on the swap list or goes to say, the OWC site and gets an OS install disk at a comfortable price. And I recommend he get the 9.1 disk if he has enough memory ( well over 64 MB ) or 8.5 / 8.6 if he has less RAM. 8.0 / 8.1 is great for older machines with no upgrades but a 9600 can do more.

An OS 9.1 disk can be had new for as little as $ 15.00
