The article also cited design expert Edward Tufte, who in a "screed" notes that, "Alas, slideware often reduces the analytical quality of presentations. In particular, the popular PowerPoint templates (ready-made designs) usually weaken verbal and spatial reasoning, and almost always corrupt statistical analysis."

Edward Tufte is a living legend!

I believe his book 'Graphical Display of Quantitative Information' should be required reading for any and all. Even if you never create a graph, you should at least be able to recognize when one is lying to you. Art directors and graphic artists should have it on their bookshelves, and any who don't follow its principles should be smacked repeatedly on the head with the book until they do get it. Ditto for business men, engineers and scientists...

By the way Powerpoint was born on the Mac.
PP first saw the light as Presenter from a soft co know as Forethought from Gaskins fame. It was renamed PowerPoint, then...

Didn't know that. I assumed the Microsoft bought it from someone, just didnt know who.

<Snip Dilbert-esque tale of Powerpoint's origins...>

ROFL!
