Let me pipe in here.

I don't even know waht the propblem is, or that there even is one.

I selected a [PCI] message, told Eudora to make a filter of those 5 characters in the subject line and told it to filter those into a 'PCI' mailbox. Then moved the filter to the top of the list of filters, and nothing else changed.

What is the problem? Eudora is the mother of all mail programs, and it is free.

Polite exchange of ideas??? Without quoting the posts I could point out a number recently which have been less than polite and have degenerated into arguement without looking at facts or resolutions.

This thread is after all, about something potentially beneficial to
most if not all of us. And it is staying pretty much on subject for a
 change.

Agreed - makes a nice change doesn't it. But the arguments without sticking to facts or discussing resolutions are still there. And I've not seen much evidence from the admins to keep it on track.

And the fact that we have heard from some listers who both filter mail
and like the prefix for it's helpfulness gives hope that those who have
trouble with it can make a painless adjustment in their user settings .

I actually think that it's not the user settings which are at fault but the server setup. Looking at the [CUBE] list that I'm on, the 'Re:' always prefixes the [CUBE] tag. I would guess that this is what is throwing out the threading for some people.
