The 9600 came with a IMS/IXMicro TwinTurbo 128 card. I think Apple may have
branded it as something slightly different, but that is the manufacturer
anyway. This card is brilliant and cheap if you can find a non OEM one. The
one bundled with a 9600 only has an Apple style video connector, but the
retail (non OEM) version has both PC style SVGA and Apple style video. I
picked one up for about $12 a few years ago. Unless you plan to do a lot of
CAD or play 3d games, I can't see that you'll benefit from something better
except if you plan to upgrade to be able to run OSX.

Other than that, the usual suspects. ATi Radeon and Matrox Millennium have
both stood me in good stead in the PC world. You will need a Mac edition of
these cards though, as the PC one will not work in a Mac. Matrox cards can't
be upgraded to Mac via flashing either, as the ROM is too small.

Hope than helps,

Matt
