I have another adaptor that has no res switches (I have to put some adaptor
fro PC type plug to mac). Wonder what res would come up if I used it? I
might bury myself in chords at the back of this desk and have a play one
day.

You are saying if I had a good card and no res switches in the adaptor I
would have available resolution choices in the Monitors control panel? (At
present I have only whatever is determined by the little switches in the
adaptor - a very happy 1024 x 768 at 74.9Hz). My monitor is something
rebadged? The plate at back says Sony Corp, GDM 1961.

(Bruce! Apologies if I have hijacked your question: reminder folks, Bruce
Johnson wants to know more about a Mac-VGA adaptor, no name on it, 4
switches on it. Known is 1-off, 2-off, 3-on, 4-on produces 640x480...)
