Bruce is correct, in my experience.

When I upgraded my 9500 to a G4/700 from a G3/225 I began having lots of
random freezes & app quits.  Testing showed that the G4 didn't like the
older, smaller memory I had been using sucessfully for years, the 8, 16, 32,
& 64 meg RAM modules.  Only the 128 RAMs worked without errors in the memory
testing.

Now I only have 128's in my 9500/G4.
