Hello all--

Since I didn't get much response on the G-List, I'll try you folks.
They're interested in filling cracks (gasp!) on their Blue & White Macs,
and I think "black and white" when I see it written as B&W. With that
allusion to my photographic bent, I shall attempt to lay out my woes.

I recently acquired both a beige G3 (desktop, 266) and a Nikon LS-20 (aka
Coolscan II) negative scanner and am now attempting to get them to work
together. Nikon's scanning software is compatible with OS 7.x and earlier;
the G3 is compatible with 8.0 and later. I would be content with a
dual-boot system, so long as I can use the scanner in one configuration
and everything else in the other.

1) Is there a usual suspect in OS 7/8 or G3/OS 7 incompatibilities?
   a) Is there some hack to boot the G3 into, say, OS 7.6.1?
   b) Is there some hack I can perform to get this software to run in OS
8.x? It's only requirement is that Quicktime be installed.

2) Does anyone know of third-party scanning software that I can actually
use with this scanner? I've tried SilverFast (it does the same as Nikon
Scan) and VueScan (which won't run on OS 8.6). There's rumour of an older
version of VueScan, but I couldn't find it.

3) Barring that, does anyone have a KVM switch they'd be willing to part
with for cheap?? =)

Thanks!
Jesse
