Two good solutions:

1) peal off the remaining adhesive, including any "tape", clean the
machine bottom with a residue-free solvent such as M-E-K
(methyl-ethyl-ketone, very hazardous if breathed in a closed environment)
apply 3M double-sided self-sticking tape to the foot, install the foot,
and

2) same as above, except substitute the application of 3M "Super 77"
spray-on contact adhesive for the application of double-sided
self-sticking tape.
