Open Transport's implementation of PPP (you see it as either the PPP or Remote Access control panels, depending on the version) is FAR

Tell us more, Dan! Any advantages under OS 8.6 or OS 9 that I have missed
for years? The thing I like most about it is the menu item and the interface
of the control panel. Probably just superficial...

Gross performance-wise, on older/slower Macs, we saw Open Transport/PPP (aka Remote Access) gave better throughput on V.90 connections and was more stable. Tests were done long ago, tho, in the early early PPC days. I guess my feeling now is that unless you're having stability problems with FreePPP, it's probably not worth the effort to switch.

As to the interfaces - I hate Remote Access and its control strip about equally. For my laptop dial-up, I use PPPop. It has cool sound effects and nice auto-launch features.
