Open Transport's implementation of PPP (you see it as either the PPP or Remote Access control panels, depending on the version) is FAR> superior.
Tell us more, Dan! Any advantages under OS 8.6 or OS 9 that I have missed for years? The thing I like most about it is the menu item and the interface of the control panel. Probably just superficial...
Gross performance-wise, on older/slower Macs, we saw Open Transport/PPP (aka Remote Access) gave better throughput on V.90 connections and was more stable. Tests were done long ago, tho, in the early early PPC days. I guess my feeling now is that unless you're having stability problems with FreePPP, it's probably not worth the effort to switch.
As to the interfaces - I hate Remote Access and its control strip about equally. For my laptop dial-up, I use PPPop. It has cool sound effects and nice auto-launch features.
