I was wondering what would cause a 6500 to have random crashes. Could bad RAM cause problems?
I have 9.1 loaded in basic form so no 3rd party problems. I have a 4 GB HD Apple Quantum so I assume it is made for a Mac.
I have two 64 MB RAM modules installed.
Is this Mac prone to crashes and freezes?
While the Mac OS is fairly stable, it does crash for a number of reasons. Gotta have more information, if you want help pinpointing what's wrong... A dying memory stick could be the cause. But a corruption on your HD might just as easily do it too... Need more info.
When exactly does it crash? What is the exact error message? What apps are running at the time? Did the crash occur right after a user action? etc.
You said "basic form so no 3rd party problems"... Does that mean you did a custom install and turned off all the outdated Microsoft crud?
Have you run Disk First Aid on all your drives?
What other devices do you have connected, internal and external?
