I had an ethernet port on a 7300 that just up and died one day. I never did figure out why. :/ >2. Is there anything special I should look for when I get around to >inspecting it visually? (I am thinking one of the connector pins on >the port is out of alignment.) Sure, check the pins. I don't know why they'd get bent unless you periodically unplug the ethernet cable or if there was a lot of tension on the cable. Also, inspect for burn marks indicative of a short or power surge.
